Scholarship Information

In 1955, the Arlington Heights Garden Club (AHGC) was founded by Irene Lisec for the purpose of promoting the love of gardening, to cultivate a spirit of beauty in the home grounds, to encourage the study of horticulture, to promote civic beautification and to help in the conservation of wildflowers and bird life. In support of these founding principles, the AHGC awards one or more $2,000 academic scholarships annually to assist local students pursuing studies in horticulture, landscape architecture, sustainability, botany, forestry, environmental science, marine biology, geoscience, or other related fields. Since 2003, the club has awarded 45 academic scholarships to outstanding students. Applicants must be residents of the Chicago Northwest suburbs adjacent to, and including, Arlington Heights.

Please Note:  Applications are available January 1 but should not be submitted until the current Fall Quarter/1st Semester transcript is available. Detailed information on the scholarship programs is on the application forms.
